Review: Brooks LSD Lite Jacket IV

The Brooks LSD Lite Jacket IV was really one of the nicest pieces I have worn while running in quite a while. Now that may sound like high-praise, but as an ultra lightweight water and wind-resistant jacket you would be hard pressed to find a better performer. Did I mention that it’s got several color options including high-viz and a stowable hood as well? Nice.

The takeaway here is that this jacket is really just a super simple and ultra effective and should be a welcome addition to your running closet (or normal wardrobe). It packs away into almost nothing, so you can throw it in almost any bag or pack and its available at a moments notice. It doesn’t have much in the way of pockets, but it weights less than 4 ounces and if it had pockets you would just want to fill them up. It has double back vent panels so it breaths well and the hood is a really nice size so it protects your head well when the weather shifts. I would say careful on trails as well as it doesn’t seem like a rip stop fabric.

This thing comes in a ton of colors including all black, grey/black, blue/orange, orange/blue, and a high-viz yellow. There is also a vest version as well for those that like just a little mid-section protection. Bottom line is that this thing has really solid lines, is super lightweight, and keeps you out of the elements effectively. Only negative might be on the price, but I think its worth it.
