Hoka One One Chalenger ATR 3 Featured

Shoe Review: HOKA ONE ONE Challenger ATR 3

There are those shoes in your lineup that you develop an affinity for. It’s not about the brand, but it’s about the fit and the feel and the utility. There’s just something right about that one pair that makes your hand move in that direction when you reach into your closet. For me that shoe has been the HOKA ONE ONE Challenger ATR since it was first released. The Challenger ATR 2 came out and it was okay, but some of the updates they made especially around the narrowing of the toebox turned my head in other directions. With the release of the ATR 3, I was excited to see if the magic had returned and I was not disappointed with the results.

Shoe Review: Brooks Launch 4

Flagship shoes are those models that every big manufacturer has gotten behind for years. The model numbers in some cases range up into the teens as they have released so many versions of it and Brooks is a great example of this. Most folks that know the brand have seen the names Glycerin, Adrenaline, Ghost, etc for quite a while. A few years ago however, they added something new to the lineup which has become a staple model in their neutral road shoe lineup. I am talking of course about the Launch. I am not sure any other shoe from Brooks gets as much press when a new model releases and this years of launch of the 4 has been no different.

Hoka One One Hupana Featured

Shoe Review: HOKA ONE ONE Hupana

There’s definitely been a trend over the last half of 2016 and now into 2017 where manufacturers are designing shoes that are made with lifestyle in mind. By this, I mean shoes you can wear to work or to run or even a little of both and they still look good and function well in both environments. In this review, we take a look at HOKA’s first foray into that area, the highly requested HOKA Hupana. I’ve always been more of a “different shoe for different occasions” type of person, but in this review I’m strictly looking at the Hupana as a runner and you can decide for yourself if you think its a great everyday shoe.

Shoe Review: Saucony Freedom ISO

Alright, we were really pumped about this next one because this shoe represents an almost fundamental shift for a company that has long produced shoes that follow a fairly specific model. That company being Saucony and the shoe in question is the Freedom ISO and it’s definitely a first of its kind. Now don’t be scared, this doesn’t mean Saucony won’t keep producing a very broad shoe lineup, but instead have accented their lineup with something entirely new for them. It uses many Saucony technologies that you’re familiar with, but it’s kind of a different beast from anything we’ve tried before. It’s like they took the shoes normally designed for racing like Kinvara and merged it with their recreational runners like the Triumph. We don’t want to spoil the rest, so off we go.

OOFOS OOcloog Sport Featured

OOFOS OOcloog Sport Clog Review

I am definitely one of those runners that suffers from pretty sore lower legs after big, long runs, and when it’s a trail run even more so. I tend to find myself with a lot of soleus, calf, and achilles tension for a few days and no amount of strength training, stretching, or improvements to flexibility has never really alleviated it. So when the OOFOS Sport Clogs arrived I was a bit skeptical because I felt like I’ve tried everything else so most of me was thinking, really is this going to do anything. I also wasn’t sure what to expect from the shoe itself because it kind of looks like a Croc and those haven’t really garnished the best reputation.

Altra Instinct Provision Featured

Side by Side Review: Altra Instinct 4.0 and Provision 3.0

In today’s wrap-up we are checking out two of the latest from Altra, the Provision 3.0 and the Instinct (for women called it’s the Intuition) 4.0. The reason we go head-to-head on these is because they are very similar runners both featuring moderate cushioning with the big difference around the level of support they provide. The Provision is definitely your stability shoe whereas the Instinct is your very neutral road runner, but the differences go much further than that.
