Apparel Wrap Up – Running Hats For Everyone

Running hats have grown into not just a useful tool for keeping the sun out of your eyes or to provide some level of sun protection, but in many ways have grown to be a badge of honor. Most races will offer a variety of styles not just for sale but also as swag and sometimes even something special for the winners. They come in all shapes and sizes; some are purely functional while others are all about the fun and then others altogether that blur the lines between both aesthetics and design. In this article we are exploring a number of brands who you may or may not know, so you can decide for yourself what is right for you.

Apparel Review: Columbia Montrail Running Lineup

Most people aren’t aware that Montrail has been part of Columbia for the last 11 years, but this year is really the moment when they are stepping out hand in hand. The new branding now combines into Columbia and Montreal into a single lock-up which looks a lot like Columbia’s Titantium line, but clearly welcomes them into the family. The good news is, nothing has really changed except the logo.

Taking a look at apparel from Vuori Clothing

Alright, it’s time to talk apparel and in this case specifically about an apparel brand that many of us in the Pacific Northwest haven’t heard too much about, I’m talking about Vuori. I stumbled across this brand on a recent family vacation down to the Encinitas area, just north of San Diego, this past summer and definitely wanted to expose them to our readers.

Apparel Review: Compressport Running

We were super excited to get a chance to check out some of the latest offerings from Compressport given it’s a new name to most in the US market, but they have some extremely deep roots in Europe and is a favorite among elite trail and distance runners. We are starting to see the brand pic wk up pace domestically and in most major races, you’ll find multiple runners in the top 50 sporting Compressport sleeves and other apparel. It’s a little different look and experience for most runners who have been taught to love the 2 to 3 inch shorts, tank tops, and the general less is more running style and instead harkens more to this space where aerodynamics and compression serve to enhance performance. We took some of their latest offerings for a run and wanted to share our thoughts.

Salomon S LAB Hybrid Jacket Featured

Apparel Review: Salomon S-LAB Hybrid Jacket

When it comes to trail running, a few key brands come to mind and Salomon really embodies the entire outdoors even outside of running. In today’s review, we take a look at one of their top performance pieces, the S-LAB Hybrid running jacket which turned out to be one of the most well-thought-out and probably one of the coolest jackets we’ve tried. It is made for performance and definitely targets the upper end of the market, but it’s so well made it’s really a solid choice for anyone.

Apparel Review and Interview: Altra StashJack and Brian Beckstead

In the world of running, there are really two kinds of companies. First, there are the giant manufacturers where everyone knows their name and they produce a solid diverse lineup of apparel, footwear, accessories and more, but then there’s also the niche market. These are the guys who focus on innovation at a non-mass-market level and while the hope is of course to one day be competitive with the larger manufacturers, they don’t want to give up on the values that made them great. Altra Running is one of those companies and while we’ve talked about their shoes before, they have also gotten into the apparel game. We had a chance to sit down and do a quick Q&A with Altra co-founder and StashJack designer, Brian Beckstead, but before we get in that we wanted to give you our thoughts after using it on the trail so first off, a quick review.

Opedix Dual Tec Tight Featured

Apparel Review: Opedix Dual-Tec 2.0 3/4 Tights

Sometimes we get the chance to look at a brand’s product where there isn’t much else in the lineup, they simply focus on one core offering and attempt to access in that area. In this case, it’s all about compression. Opedix was founded on the idea of producing gear that has a profound effect on health, they refer to it as Kinetic Health Gear. We got a chance to take their Dual-Tec 2.0 2 3/4 tights out for some test runs.
