Boston Marathon 2017 Shoe Round-Up

We are rapidly closing in on the big day for a lot of runners around the world, the start of the 2017 Boston Marathon. While we really enjoy the beauty of the run, the people, the city, and the achievement; what we really like are shoes. Every year manufacturers release special editions specifically for Boston and we have started our round-up. We will keep this updated as more release, but without further ado…

Shoe Review: Saucony Freedom ISO

Alright, we were really pumped about this next one because this shoe represents an almost fundamental shift for a company that has long produced shoes that follow a fairly specific model. That company being Saucony and the shoe in question is the Freedom ISO and it’s definitely a first of its kind. Now don’t be scared, this doesn’t mean Saucony won’t keep producing a very broad shoe lineup, but instead have accented their lineup with something entirely new for them. It uses many Saucony technologies that you’re familiar with, but it’s kind of a different beast from anything we’ve tried before. It’s like they took the shoes normally designed for racing like Kinvara and merged it with their recreational runners like the Triumph. We don’t want to spoil the rest, so off we go.

Shoe Review: Saucony Ride 9

I have run in all sorts of Saucony shoes now and more than anything, it’s clear that they offer a consistently diverse lineup that suit runners of all types. The Ride 9 is really a Saucony that is designed for the recreational runner, not a racer, and is meant to be supportive, comfortable, and durable. This really means it is non-aggressive, well proportioned, and not overly designed. Truly, it’s one of those shoes that hits dead on in that everyday consumer sweet spot.

Apparel Review: Saucony Evolution Sportop

A couple months back we had a chance to review several of Saucony’s RunWarm and RunDry pieces and they definitely leaned toward the late winter weather, but today we wanted to show off their Evolution Sportop. It has definitely been designed for these early spring mornings in hopes to provide you with a nice thin layer of warmth coupled with their RunDry technology. This quarter-zip style is a staple in most runners outfit as it can be easily layered with a short sleeve or long sleeve running shirt in order to provide you just that extra layer of protection. We’ll dive in a little more into the features Saucony has included to set themselves apart.

Shoe Review: Saucony Triumph ISO 2

We were big fans of the first version of the Triumph ISO released last year, so we approached the ISO 2 review with eager anticipation. The first version was a new addition to the Saucony lineup in that it provided a higher level of cushioning then the majority of shoes they offer. We found that this added cushioning was welcome for most mid-level or even recreational runners, but the shoes still remained quite fast, almost uncontrollably so. The good news is it appears the ISO 2 may have changed all that.

Apparel Review: Saucony Running Late Winter Lineup

Have you ever found that one piece of apparel that just works perfectly and you look forward to wearing every time? If so, then this review will be right up your alley. We had a chance to review some of the pieces from the Saucony late winter collection and while the entire lineup is aesthetically on point, there was one simple piece of gear I fell in love with. More on that as we move through the lineup.
