Triathlon Diary Entry: Triathlon Accomplished – Part 3 – The Run and The Finish

The transition into the run went really smoothly, much better than I expected in fact. After I dismounted the bike, I sprinted across the still damp grass into my transition spot and made a quick change into my Hokas, threw on my number belt, and grabbed my hat and before you know it I was headed out of the gate with a total transition time of 1:41. Most of this was due to the run from dismount to my location and then back out the gate into the run.

Gear Review: The Swim It

I wanted to set aside a whole article to talk about one of the key pieces of equipment that I used while training for and competing in the Portland Triathlon as it has become an invaluable item in my kit, it’s The Swim It. When I first started thinking about the swim portion of the triathlon and in particular, the open water swimming element, there was a certain amount of trepidation. Don’t get me wrong, I have always felt strong in the water, but after several weeks of training in a pool I realized that swimming at distance continually at pace is challenging and leaves little room for error.

Triathlon Diary Entry: Detailing The Swim Gear Or What’s In The Bag?

As several folks have asked over the last few weeks, I wanted to put together a quick article on the kind of gear I take with me when I am doing my swim training. If for no other reason than it kind of shocked me as well. Of course it can be as simple as throwing some trunks on, but I am really trying to train the way a triathlete does so I have a little more gear than normal and when you juggle both pool and open water, it adds up.
