Suunto today announced the release of a new version of their Ambit3 GPS watch specifically for the running category. In addition to a great new color, the Run also comes in at a lower price point than the Sport model. The Ambit3 family is really shaping up and it sounds like they have even more planned for the next few months.
The primary difference between the Run and the Sport is the multi-sport functionality. So if you are a triathlete or if you ever want to switch Sports mid-session then you should stick with the Sport. If you are primarily a runner, then the Run is definitely the way to go. It still features all the same great features as the rest of the Ambit family including Bluetooth connectivity for easy data transfer and updates, integration with Movescount, and more. One great feature for runners is the ability to set duration and intensity within the Movescount app and then get vocal guidance during your run from a virtual coach. Can’t wait to try this out!
A few other announcements include 3 new swim compatible heart rate monitor colors and also features a smaller form factor. Movescount is also now integrated with TrainingPeaks so you can upload your runs directly when completed. Before you could push to Strava, but it appears they are growing this support. Lets hope it continues to grow and adds other services like Runkeeper, MapMyRun, Nike+, Garmin, and more.
You can find out more about the Ambit3 Run on the Suunto website. The Run is available now and starts at $299, $349 with a heart rate monitor.
We will have an in-depth test coming very soon, so stay tuned!
