It is that time of year again and a lot of you last-minute shoppers with runners in your family are probably looking for fun ideas for the holidays. We’ve put together a few of our favorites at varying price points, so without further ado here is our Running Holiday Gift Guide for 2019!!!
A Runner Box Subscription
There are a lot of running subscriptions boxes out there, but one of our favorites has always been The Runner Box and their holiday-themed box has always packed a little more punch in terms of value, so definitely one to take a look yeah. It is definitely a gift that keeps on giving if you give someone a subscription which runs about $25 a month.
Untapped Runner’s Bundle
Maple syrup as it turns out can do a lot more than sweeten your pancakes, turns out its an all-natural alternative to those un-natural gels out there and they taste amazing. Plus a free hat in their custom holiday bundle, come on!
Sportland Tea Goodr Bundle
We have espoused all the greatness that is Sportland Runner’s Tea in the past, but definitely check out their holiday gift box which includes some custom Goodr glasses along with their solid CBD Endurance Tea.
Headsweats Crusher Heat and REPREVE Holiday Runner
We have long been fans of the Headsweats line up and while they offer a nice array of different styles a few of our favorites are their new Crusher hate which feels visually like it’s made for the mountains but works great even on the road. Not to be missed are their REPREVE based holiday long sleeves. REPREVE is a fabric made of recycled plastic bottles yet still feels soft and breathable. Bonus points for the fun ugly sweater look.
Zensah Smart Gloves
As a company known for compression, Zensah has a lot of great options for gifts, but we let us call your attention to their Smart Gloves which kind of sit under the radar. Warm enough for most days and still highly touch-responsive for use with your device.
Yaktrax Quick Trax
These make for a solid stocking stuffer for literally anyone, but for runners, the Yaktrax Quick Trax provides you some really quick and dirty traction. Just slip them over the toe of the shoe and boom, a nice little minimal amount of traction.
Julbo Outline Sunglasses
There are lots of cheap sunglasses out there and some work great, but sometimes you want to give something a little nicer. The Julbo Outline is a performance-oriented pair of sunglasses with lenses built of Polycarbonate and can stand up to a lot. They also offer Photochromic lenses as well which change to match light conditions.
Camelbak Ultra Belt
From Cambelbak, one of the kings of hydration comes this innocent-looking little belt, but hidden inside is a collapsible 17oz bottle that sits tight across your body and yet still has enough room for additional running needs including phone, gels, keys, cards, whatever really. Love the simplicity in the design and it fits almost every waist size really well.
Brooks Revel 3 Holiday Edition
Brooks makes some great shoes and the Revel 3 is no exception. This neutral road runner weighs in just under 9oz and is a great choice for most runners. The best part is obviously the look, available in holiday green or blue sweater versions, these things are super fun.
Whoop
We have been Whoop users for the last 6 months and it fundamentally changes how you train and it is a whole new take on fitness wearables. The strap isn’t super fancy, but the data it gathers and the accompanying web and app experience can really help a hardcore athlete with their training. This doesn’t replace your Garmin, Suunto, or other but can easily ride along with it.
This Voice in My Heart: A Runner’s Memoir of Genocide, Faith, and Forgiveness by Gilbert Tuhabonye
We had a chance to hear Gilbert speak recently at The Running Event in Austin and we were truly moved by his story. His book is an easy but beautiful read into not only what is a running story, but one of survival as well. An amazing person and story.
Epic Runs of the World by Lonely Planet
This is a super fun book with beautiful artwork that captures those epic runs from all over the world that one can only wish to visit. This is almost as good as being there.
Your Local Running Store
We know there are a number of sites out there where you can get gift certificates or products quickly and easily, but let us recommend that you support your local running store instead. Try to stay away from the big chains and find those cool spots that only runners in your town might know about. A gift certificate to those places will say a lot to the runner in your life and will go along way to continue support running in our community.
That’s it, stay safe and have a great holiday everyone!
