When big established running brands jump into a new category, we are always stoked to check things out. Enter Rabbit, an apparel favorite, and the Rabbit Dream Chaser, a newcomer to Rabbit’s lineup that promises to merge sustainable materials with advanced running technology. Upper
The Rabbit Dream Chaser features an upper crafted from 100% recycled polyester, echoing the brand’s commitment to sustainability. The knit upper boasts minimal layering, resulting in a design that is both stylish and functional. From our experience, the material feels premium and comfortable, making it suitable for both casual wear and light running duties.

The shoe provides a tailored fit for both men and women, ensuring a secure heel, snug midfoot, and spacious forefoot. Notably, the high heel collar might be a hit or miss depending on personal preference, although it does offer a secure fit. The lacing system, while not particularly tight, complements the shoe’s easy-run focus, making it a solid option for relaxed paces.

Midsole
At the heart of the Dream Chaser’s midsole is an eTPU foam that delivers excellent vibration dampening. This cushioning is paired with Rabbit’s patent-pending midfoot Carbon Trax technology. Together, these components create a ride that feels protective rather than overly bouncy or responsive.

We did notice that the midsole’s rigidity, attributed to the Carbon Trax strips, could be a downside during longer runs. While it offers good support and stability, the lack of natural flex might be an issue, particularly for mid to forefoot strikers, who may experience some discomfort during extended use.
Outsole
The outsole of the Dream Chaser incorporates 15% recycled rubber, designed to be slip-resistant and durable. In our tests, it held up well on various surfaces, including gravel, without significant wear. The shoe’s outsole features visible carbon fiber plates, reinforcing the stability aspect but potentially affecting flexibility.

Interestingly, Rabbit made updates to the outsole after its initial release to include additional rubber strips over the Carbon Trax. These modifications aim to reduce noise, enhance the running experience, and protect the carbon plates, making the shoe more user-friendly.
Performance During the Run
In real-world conditions, the Dream Chaser delivers a smooth and protective ride. It’s comfortable for easy, shorter runs and doubles as a stylish casual shoe. However, the weight might be a point of contention for some runners, especially those looking for a lighter option for speed work or longer distances.
During our long run test, the shoe felt heavy underfoot, and issues related to the Carbon Trax’s rigidity became more pronounced. For runs under two hours, the Dream Chaser performed admirably, with solid support and cushioning. It’s not the bounciest shoe on the market, but it excels in delivering a stable, controlled experience.
Versatility is one of its stronger suits, making it adaptable for both running and everyday wear. However, for those dedicated to faster paces or needing more midsole flexibility, other options might suit better.

Conclusion
The Rabbit Dream Chaser presents an enticing mix of sustainability and advanced technology. Its key strengths lie in its stylish upper, comfortable fit, and stable ride, making it ideal for easy runs and casual wear. The shoe does have some limitations, including its weight and midsole rigidity, which may not appeal to every runner. Ultimately, the Dream Chaser stands as a commendable entry from Rabbit, especially for those prioritizing eco-friendly materials and looking for versatile footwear. If you’re after a shoe that blends casual style with reliable performance, the Dream Chaser is worth a look.
