There are some brands out there that just scream premium in everything they do. From the design of the product, in their advertising, even how they package and tag their gear. Tracksmith is one of those brands. With everything they do and with every product they release, the visual appeal and the materials they use are of the top quality and their Spring and Summer 2020 collection is an exemplary result of this type of care and attention.
This 6-year-old Massachusetts based independent apparel designer is literally the gear that professionals want to wear. We saw this earlier this year at the Olympics trials when even sponsored runners chose to wear Tracksmith singlets and shorts simply because they prefer their quality. We had a chance to put some of their key pieces to the test and without saying more, it is all just amazingly well built.
Van Cortlandt Long and Short Sleeve
The Van Cortlandt Long and Short Sleeve Tees are made of a combination of 82% polyester and 18% spandex coupled with an anti-microbial finish. This soft and breathable material Tracksmith has labeled their 2:09 mesh. Each is a crewneck and sports that big Tracksmith stripe (sash) and their logo of the Hare on the left breast. The material feels great against the skin and breathes really well.
The long sleeve is a little longer in the front and has a squared-off panel which you can easily tuck or untuck. It is available in 2 color options and retails for $75 USD.
The short sleeve has slits on the side for better a better fit through the hip. It is available in 7 different color options and retails for $70 USD.
Van Cortlandt Grand Shorts
The Van Cortlandt Grand Shorts uses the exact same mesh and 82/18 materials combo as the shirts. The have a drawstring on the waistband and run a 4 inch inseam. There are also two internal back pockets for storage. There is no internal liner so you will need to make sure you have something under there, like the Reggie listed below.
Reggie Half Tights
The Reggie Half Tight is a great under layer for the Van Cortlandt shorts or amazing on their own if you are looking for something quick. This half tight is 80% nylon and 20% elastane with a 9″ inseam and also features 2 internal very small back pockets. It feels very soft against the skin and really adapts with your movement. For a chill day, wear them under shorts and for race day wear them with a singlet and you are set.
Tracksmith produces just beautiful apparel and the Spring 2020 apparel lineup is no different. It is definitely designed for a more athletic build, but if it fits your body then you won’t regret spending a little extra on it. The quality materials stand up to time, breathe well, and look amazing. They make a statement while also being a little more subdued. Lastly, if you have a runner in your life you are looking for a gift for, then this is a really easy choice.
