The North Face VECTIV Enduris 4 is the kind of trail shoe you put on when you want to go long, stay comfortable, and not overthink your gear. It’s designed to be the most cushioned and versatile option in the VECTIV line, and from my experience, it lives up to that promise. Right away, I noticed how stable and protective it felt underfoot, even with its generous stack of cushioning. The shoe has that dependable, do-it-all vibe that is perfect for long days on rolling singletrack, dirt roads, or even some light technical terrain. For me, it struck a really nice balance between being protective and being fun to run in.

Upper
The upper of the Enduris 4 felt dialed in for comfort and durability. The engineered mesh is breathable but reinforced with overlays in key spots, so I felt protected without overheating. The gusseted tongue kept out trail debris and helped with lockdown, and the heel collar had just enough padding to feel secure without being bulky. I liked how the toe box leaned slightly on the roomy side, which gave my toes some space to spread on long runs or when the trail got hotter and my feet swelled. Overall, it felt like a secure, well-ventilated upper built for big miles.

Midsole
The midsole is where the Enduris 4 really shines. The new DREAM supercritical foam with the VECTIV rocker geometry made each stride feel smooth and efficient, especially on rolling terrain. I could feel the TPU stability plate working underfoot—it wasn’t overly stiff like some carbon-plated shoes but gave me just enough structure to keep things stable on uneven ground. At 41 mm in the heel and 35 mm in the forefoot, the cushioning was more than enough for long days, and I liked that it felt protective without being mushy. For me, the midsole delivered that mix of cushion and stability that makes the shoe ideal for ultra training but also an easy choice for a fun little short jaunt as well.

Outsole
The SurfaceCTRL rubber outsole with 3.5 mm lugs gave me confidence on a variety of surfaces. On dry dirt and rocky trails, traction was excellent, and even on light mud, the multi-directional lugs dug in just enough. It’s not a mud specialist, but for general-purpose trails, it handled really well. I also appreciated how smooth it felt when I had to connect segments on roads or hard-packed paths—it didn’t feel clunky or overly aggressive. Durability looks promising too; after several runs, I saw very little wear on the outsole.

Performance on the Trail
On the trail, the Enduris 4 felt like a shoe I could rely on for steady, long efforts. It’s not the lightest or the most nimble option, so I wouldn’t grab it for all-out racing or super technical scrambles. But when I wanted a stable, cushioned ride that let me focus on the scenery instead of worrying about my feet, it really delivered. I found it especially good on rolling singletrack and long fire roads, those runs where efficiency and comfort matter most. It’s the kind of shoe that lets you settle in and just keep moving.

Conclusion
The North Face VECTIV Enduris 4 is a max-cushion trail shoe designed for comfort, stability, and long-distance versatility. With its breathable upper, rockered midsole, and grippy outsole, it hits that sweet spot for everyday trail miles and ultra-distance training. It’s not the most aggressive or flashy shoe on the market, but that’s its strength—it’s reliable, comfortable, and built to last. For me, it’s the kind of shoe I’d recommend to runners who want a dependable partner for big days on the trails.
