I was definitely a little concerned going into this one from the moment I pulled them out of the box. I mean, I have been waiting for the Superblast 3 because I loved the previous so much, but lo and behold, we have the Megablast. Now I do not know if this is the successor to the Superblast 2 or if ASICS has more in store, but when a shoe combines feather-light weights with towering cushioning, you know it’s aiming for the top. Much like the Superblast, the Megablast is a super-trainer that feels like a race shoe but works for everyday miles. It is versatile, energetic, and unapologetically premium. It is also different in its own right.

Upper – Sleek and Performant
The Megablast’s upper is sleek and performance-oriented. It uses a thin engineered mesh that feels airy and breathable, perfect for warm-weather runs. The fit of the upper material is interesting, near the toe you can get some contact on the lateral side, but there is also a lot of material so you do get some folds if you lace down hard. The heel collar has just enough internal padding for comfort without adding bulk, and the tongue is minimal great for weight savings but watch for lace bite if you cinch too hard… the padding is there so it’s really how you lace. In the end, the upper delivers a secure lockdown that feels race-ready, if you have a very wide feet OR even very narrow, you will want to try first.

Midsole – Bouncy and Fun
This is where the magic happens or more precisely the bouncing happens. ASICS packed the Megablast with FF Turbo² foam, a A-TPU blend that’s both springy and resilient. At 45 mm in the heel and 37 mm in the forefoot, the stack height is massive, yet the shoe remains impressively light. The rocker geometry works with the foam to create a smooth, rolling transition that feels effortless at moderate to fast paces. It’s not marshmallow-soft; instead, it offers a balanced firmness that keeps you stable while delivering plenty of bounce. Long runs feel cushioned and protective, while tempo efforts reveal its lively side. The Megablast does have a ton of bounce in it though, that springiness is so tangible it might take you some getting used to… but amazing when you do.

Outsole – Plenty of Grip
The ASICSGRIP outsole provides dependable traction across dry roads, damp pavement, and even light gravel. The rubber coverage is strategic enough to provide for durability without adding unnecessary weight. The grip is excellent, and after a decent amount of miles it is not slacking off at all.

Run Performance – Again, just plain Fun
On the run, the Megablast feels more like a luxury sports car that is smooth, powerful, and fun. The combination of high stack and responsive foam makes cruising at easy paces comfortable, while the rocker and rebound kick in when you pick up the speed. It’s versatile enough for everything from recovery runs to marathon workouts. The shoe shines on long runs, where its cushioning keeps fatigue at bay, and it even holds its own for tempo sessions.
What really surprised me was how well the Megablast handles transitions between paces. On days when I started easy and gradually picked up speed, the shoe felt like it adapted without hesitation. The rocker geometry and responsive foam work together to make acceleration feel natural, almost like the shoe is encouraging you to go faster. Even during strides or short bursts, there’s enough snap to keep things fun without feeling unstable. The bounce you get provides that fun, once you hit pace, the shoes kind of take over and just keep on moving you down the road.

For recovery runs and long-distance comfort, the Megablast really shines. The high stack of FF Turbo² foam cushions every step, making those slow, easy miles feel effortless. Even after two hours on the road, the shoe maintains its lively feel without bottoming out, which is a big win for durability and consistency.
Conclusion
The ASICS Megablast is a premium super trainer that blends max cushioning with surprising agility. It’s ideal for runners who want one shoe to handle a variety of runs including long, easy, and fast without the stiffness of a carbon plate and for the vast majority of consumer runners could be your half or full marathon race day shoe. The big issues I would say is that the price is steep while the fit may not suit everyone, but more me, its kind of a home run and has also left me not begging for that Superblast 3 any longer.

Final Grade: 9/10
This is really for outstanding performance and versatility, and while there are some minor fit and price drawbacks, overall this shoe is fun as anything.
