Run Test
When the Razer 3 Hyper dropped people started to take notice of what Skechers was doing on the performance side and while they have been doing it longer than you might expect, there was something about the Razer 3 Hyper that got them a lot of attention. What was lacking for them was definitely the aesthetic, but also the fact it felt more like an unforgiving race shoe than something you could use every day.
The Razer+ Hyper fixes a lot of that while retaining what was so great about the Razer 3. On foot, the new mono mesh upper is a lot more forgiving while also providing increased breathability. The updated heel collar also goes a lot further adding significant comfort on the ankle and Achilles, hands down it just feels better. The midsole feels exactly the same underfoot providing a nice balance of comfort and responsiveness.
In a run, the shoe shines even more as the new upper gets some really amazing airflow and is just more forgiving than the prior versions. It is a fast and comfortable shoe and if you liked the Razer 3, then it’s an easy purchase.
On the negative side, the shoe definitely runs a little narrow so wider feet will find themselves overflowing the midsole, so be warned. Additionally, the upper can tend to give almost too much and get a little sloppy as there is more material up there so even narrow feet might find the upper material excessive. The really standard width foot is definitely going to enjoy this upper the most.
Construction: Upper
The upper is the big change on the Razer+ as Skechers has moved to a seamless mono mesh and polyester blend design. This gives the upper a roomier feel overall but also increases breathability. The heel features more improved padding and a very slight internal heel counter while the tongue remains fully unpadded.

Construction: Midsole
HyperBurst continues to impress in the Razer+ offering 27mm of their nitrogen-infused critical foam which balances responsiveness, cushion, and weight to deliver a really solid run experience. They were the first to really embrace this midsole tech across their lineup and now the majority of other brands are doing the same because it cuts weight quickly, yet still delivers an amazing ride.

Construction: Outsole
Skechers Goodyear partnership continues to bear fruit as the outsole still has plenty of traction despite only being barely a few millimeters thick. They have added an additional strip of rubber on the medial instep on the Razer+ for even better traction.

Style & Aesthetics
Styling on the Razer+ Hyper gets a full tweak with two color options being made available in what is a much more muted version of the Razer 3. The upper material change allows for greater color variations and they have coupled this with a very bold midsole which looks hot. Hopefully, they will build this out even more as we can imagine some very fun colorways.
Overall Conclusion
Overall, the Skechers Razer+ Hyper is really a better version of the Razer 3 Hyper in our opinion. The upper is so much easier on the foot giving you more room to move and just breathe so much better. You can see it as your “every day” counterpart and save the 3 for race day, but we prefer to pair it with the all-new Razer Elite which boasts a carbon plate in addition to the exact same specs as the Razer+. While it runs a bit narrow, it is another solid performer from Skechers.
