The Skechers Aero Burst is one of those shoes that feels fresh the moment you lace it up. Designed as a lightweight, uptempo distance trainer, it’s built for runners who want something nimble and responsive but still comfortable enough for daily miles. Skechers has been making waves with their Hyperburst Pro midsoles and Goodyear outsoles, and the Aero Burst carries that formula into a shoe that feels efficient and fast without tipping into harsh or overly firm territory. What I liked most was how balanced it felt—there’s enough cushion to go long, but it still has that snappy edge that makes workouts fun.

Upper
The Aero Burst’s upper is stripped down and performance-focused. The engineered mesh is thin and breathable, which made it a great option on warmer runs. While it’s lightweight, it still has just enough structure through the midfoot and heel to keep things locked in. The padding around the collar is minimal but comfortable, which I appreciated because it didn’t add bulk or weight. The toebox had enough room for natural toe splay, and overall the fit felt like a nice blend of snug security and long-run comfort. It’s not the plushest upper, but for this type of trainer, I liked its simplicity.

Midsole
The Hyperburst Pro midsole gives the Aero Burst its energy. At 34 mm in the heel and 28 mm in the forefoot, it delivers a protective ride without being overly soft. The foam has a lively, springy feel that makes picking up the pace fun, and the embedded carbon-infused shank in the forefoot adds a bit of snap on toe-off. I noticed the 6 mm drop worked really well for keeping me in a natural stride pattern, making transitions smooth whether I was running easy or shifting gears for a workout. For me, the midsole hit a nice sweet spot—it didn’t feel mushy on easy days but had plenty of pop when I wanted to move.

Outsole
The outsole uses Goodyear rubber in the heel and forefoot, which gave me good confidence in traction and durability. The exposed foam in between helps keep the shoe light and flexible. On roads, the grip felt strong, even on slightly damp pavement. I wouldn’t take it on technical trails, but for road running it was more than enough. After several runs, the rubber showed minimal wear, which makes me think it will hold up well for a lightweight shoe. I also appreciated how smooth the transition felt, with no clunky sensation despite the strategic rubber layout.

Performance
Out on the road, the Aero Burst really lived up to its name. It felt light and quick underfoot, with a ride that encouraged faster turnover. On easy runs, it was comfortable and protective, but it truly shined during tempo runs and strides when the foam and forefoot shank worked together to give me an extra push. It’s not the kind of shoe I’d pick for long recovery runs or maximum cushioning, but for workouts and everyday training when I want to feel sharp, it’s an excellent choice. I liked how it disappeared underfoot in the best way—supportive enough to trust, yet nimble enough to feel fast.

Conclusion
The Skechers Aero Burst is a versatile lightweight trainer that strikes a great balance between comfort and speed. With its breathable upper, springy Hyperburst Pro midsole, carbon-infused shank, and durable Goodyear outsole, it delivers a ride that feels efficient and fun across a wide range of paces. It’s not meant to replace your plush recovery shoe or your plated marathon racer, but it shines in that middle ground where you need a daily trainer that can also handle uptempo efforts. For me, the Aero Burst hit the mark as a shoe that makes running feel lively and effortless, and that’s exactly what I look for in this category.
